Cedar is the natural choice because of its beauty, practicality and durability. Rustic Cedar uses only the finest cedar to create furniture that lasts for generations. All cedar log furniture is subject to the natural process of checking as the wood "seasons." Checking occurs as wood releases moisture across or through the annual growth rings and it does not affect the structural performance or integrity of the wood. Therefore cracks in Cedar furniture are quite normal and can happen at any time. The cracks can vary in sizes but are sure to not affect the quality or resistance of the product as this is a natural process of Cedar furniture.

Northern White Cedar is the superior choice for furniture because of its beauty, practicality and durability. It is a creamy white color that weathers gracefully to a silvery gray when left in the sun. Western Red Cedar is used in the Arbors and Garden items. It is dark rusty red color and also ages to a silver gray when left untreated. All Rustic cedar items may be used indoors or out, and may be painted or stained as desired.

Cedar is naturally resistant to decay and insect damage. It is a very light wood (19 pounds per cubic foot) and is easy to work with. It will not shrink or warp as do many other woods used for furniture or garden products. Cedar is uncommonly smooth-surfaced, making it more attractive than other woods.
