I owned one of these burners in a different housing once before. It I was unsuccessful at finding this product until I found Wayfair. This burner is worth having at any price, but Wayfair has made it quite affordable even with the shipping. I wasn’t happy about the housing it came in, so I did some “work” on it. I cut the pot holding tines off to 1.5 inches above the collar, then reversed the bars and welded them back on where there was no tines sticking past the collar. This did two major things for me. 1 – my medium sized wok fits it perfectly, and 2 – it drops the distance from the flame to a normal pot so the heat doesn’t dissipate uselessly. It also means you will need a LOT less gas to cook with. I wish Wayfair had a “video review” like a lot of the web sites I use do these days. You might be interested in knowing my local weld shop charged me $20.00 to weld the tines, I made the cuts using my reciprocating saw with a couple of metal blades. So the added cost of modification was nothing worth mentioning. This is the only burner you can find that will produce the amount of heat dispersed over the space it has. There just isn’t another design that will do the job. I have seen and used the “jet” style burners. They are only good if you are boiling water, not good from much of anything else. One last word here. Just to let you know, I also have one of the burners (just the burner as a replacement part with no housing) in my “wish list”. That should indicate to you how much I believe in this particular burner design. 3 Stars because of housing design. 5 stars because of burner design.

This is what I needed. I had a small Burner for about 6 years. Always had problems maintaining oil temperature. This is a burner on steroids. This is a MUST for anyone who is a serious Turkey Fryer.

I have been looking for this burner for a long time. The first one I owned, I had for 5 years, and it turned up "missing" after a move. This one is the same burner, but the stand was different from my old one. I had to cut the pot stand down to the burner hosing and weld new tangs that ran in a circle. This did two things. It made if fit my woks perfectly, and made the gas consumption much more efficient. While I was at it, I also constructed a 4 inch tall extension pot stand, so the large pots would get better heat distribution (which is why they designed it the way they did in the first place), but I use mine as much with a wok as I do for large pot cooking tasks about equally. As far as I know, you can NOT find a burner that puts out more BTU's than this monster. I cut one star off of the rating because of the stand design, but the burner gets a full 5+ stars. By the way, make sure you have a "stick lighter". You don't want your hand too close to that burner when you fire it up. Happy cooking!!

Best Burner in the market for those not satisfied with their natural gas powered kitchen appliances. Must be modified to be used with a wok- even flat bottomed ones. I had to cut off about 2 1/2" of the bars and welded a 10" steel ring on the element to prevent the wok from accidentially tipping over.

Today was the first day I used the unit. It was exactly as described right out of the box and easily assembled. The first thing I found was a gas leak by the regulator. I disconnected it and found almost no sealant on either side. After applying sealant and re assembling I found no more leaks. I used the unit for about an hour and found it was exactly what I wanted. The only thing I would change is the height between the burner and the top of the legs. If it were closer I believe it would be more efficient. I tried calling Bayou Classics "800" number to let them know of the gas leak and to ask a question but I got an automated message .. so I left a message with my number as they may be off for Veterans Day.

I use this burner when making Beer. I require a burner that produces enough heat to quickly boil several gallons of water. This unit does this job perfectly. It also allows me enough control over the heat to lightly boil the water when I need, as well. Overall it's a great unit, simply built, but works great.
