I use this in a birdbath, and the well in which it sits is very small. So, size is the most important thing, and this seems to be the smallest pump out there. I bought it as a replacement for the original one, which lasted about two summers. I actually had to repair the first one in order to get the second summer out of it. So, I hope this one lasts longer! Other than that, it pumps well, and the adjustable flow is nice.

our pump worked great for 3-4 years. Then one day while cleaning the fountain, I bumped the pump gently with the concrete finial, and it quit, never to work again. How frustrating! Installing the new one was a three person job with lots of effort involved to take the fountain apart and then reassemble in order to get the cord threaded, but now we're back in business!
